Unit 1: Artists Explore, Observe, and Make
Studio routines, line, shape, color, texture, and observation
- Week 1: Studio Routines and Teamwork — I can follow studio routines and work as a team to care for our materials.
- Week 2: Lines That Show Feeling — I can draw lines that show movement and feelings on purpose.
- Week 3: Shapes, Forms, and Space — I can tell shapes from forms and notice the space in an artwork.
- Week 4: Color Choices and Words — I can choose colors on purpose and use art words to explain them.
- Week 5: Texture and Pattern Play — I can make textures and patterns and tell why I like an artwork.
- Week 6: Look Closely and Draw — I can observe an object closely and draw the details I see.
- Week 7: Imagine and Create Together — I can share imaginative ideas and build an artwork with my team.
- Week 8: Safe Tools, Caring Artists — I can use art tools safely and take care of them like a responsible artist.

Unit 2: Artists Design Objects and Places
Everyday objects, drawing, diagrams, sculpture, and design
- Week 1: Objects Have Uses and Designs — I can tell what an object is for and notice how it was designed.
- Week 2: Drawing Everyday Objects — I can look closely at an object and draw its real shapes.
- Week 3: Diagrams: Art That Explains — I can draw a diagram with labels to explain how something works.
- Week 4: Sculpture from Everyday Forms — I can build a sculpture using everyday objects and forms.
- Week 5: Design Challenge: Improve a Classroom Object — I can plan a new design that makes a classroom object better.
- Week 6: Images of the Same Subject — I can compare two images of the same subject and tell how they differ.
- Week 7: Art About Home and School Events — I can make art about an event from my life and explain my choices.
- Week 8: Objects in Daily Life Artworks — I can find everyday objects in artworks and tell why they matter.
- Week 9: Performance Task: Everyday Object Design Portfolio Page — I can design an everyday object, label its parts, and add it to my portfolio.
